Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Forecost("the service"), available at forecost.app. By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

What Forecost is

Forecost analyzes a description of a software project and produces an estimate of the AI tooling and API costs to build, maintain, and run it, along with a suggested purchasing plan. Estimates are informational only. They are generated from AI-assisted scope analysis combined with a deterministic formula and publicly available pricing data, which may be incomplete, out of date, or not applicable to your specific situation.

Forecost does not provide financial, legal, accounting, or professional consulting advice, and an estimate is not a quote, contract, guarantee, warranty, promise, professional opinion, or commitment of any kind. Estimates can be wrong, incomplete, too high, too low, or unsuitable for your project. You are solely responsible for verifying pricing, scope, assumptions, vendor terms, and budget needs before making purchasing, hiring, delivery, pricing, or investment decisions.

You should use Forecost as a planning aid only. Do not rely on Forecost as the sole basis for a budget, proposal, client quote, purchase, staffing plan, investor communication, or business decision.

Accounts & anonymous use

You can create and view estimates without an account; in that case we associate your estimates with your browser via an anonymous session cookie. Creating an account lets you access your estimates from any device. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for any activity under your account.

Payments & refunds

PDF report exports are currently free for now, with the regular $4.99 report price waived during this period. If paid PDF exports are re-enabled later, prices will be shown before checkout and processed securely via Stripe. Because the PDF is generated and delivered immediately after payment, paid purchases are generally non-refundable — but if something went wrong on our end (e.g. the report failed to generate or didn't reflect your estimate), email contact@forecost.app and we'll make it right.

Acceptable use

• Don't use the service to submit unlawful, abusive, or infringing content.
• Don't attempt to disrupt, overload, or reverse-engineer the service or its pricing data.
• Don't use automated scraping of estimates or pricing data beyond normal personal use.
• Public share links are provided for convenience — don't use them to publish content you don't have the right to share.

Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, reliability, completeness, timeliness, merchantability, non-infringement, or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that any estimate, report, recommendation, pricing table, or AI-generated analysis will be accurate, current, uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or suitable for your needs.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Forecost, its owner, operators, officers, employees, contractors, affiliates, suppliers, and service providers are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, punitive, or lost-profit damages, or for lost revenue, lost data, lost business, project delay, budget overrun, under-budgeting, failed delivery, purchase decisions, staffing decisions, pricing decisions, client disputes, or other losses arising from or related to your use of, inability to use, or reliance on the service or any estimate.

If liability cannot be excluded under applicable law, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid Forecost for the specific paid report giving rise to the claim or USD $10. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions or liability limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Your responsibility for decisions

You accept full responsibility for any decision, action, or inaction based on the service, including decisions you make for your own business or for a client, employer, investor, contractor, or other third party. If you share, export, resell, present, or otherwise use an estimate with another person or organization, you are responsible for explaining that it is only an estimate and may be inaccurate.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Forecost and its owner, operators, officers, employees, contractors, affiliates, suppliers, and service providers from claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your use of the service, your reliance on an estimate, your violation of these terms, or your use of an estimate with any third party.

Changes to the service or terms

We may update these terms or change, suspend, or discontinue features of the service at any time. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
